Manny Gnanaraj, Chief Nursing and Allied Health Professions Officer

Manny is an experienced nurse and leader, with more than two decades experience in mental health nursing in the NHS, following his original qualifications and training in India.

He previously worked at Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, where he had been Deputy Chief Nursing Officer for two years, and Divisional Nurse Director before that. Prior to moving to the West Midlands, Manny held a number of mental health nursing roles in south and south west England, having started his NHS career in mental health nursing in Dorset in 2003, after being recruited as an internationally educated nurse from India. 

Manny has been a Fellow of the Chief Nursing Officer’s BAME strategic advisory group, and his work in leading his Trust’s international nurses recruitment programme saw the Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust awarded the NHS Pastoral Care Quality Award. He was the recipient of the NHS Leadership Academy’s Executive Healthcare Leadership Award in 2022, and is an active member of the British Indian Nurses Association and the Jabali Network.
