Our C&I Governors
The Boards of Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) and Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH) meet in common as a Partnership Board, reflecting the coming together of both Trusts in the formation of the North London Mental Health Partnership.
Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust has an elected Council of Governors (made up of public, staff, service users/ carers, and stakeholders) which holds the C&I Board publicly accountable for the services it provides. Our Governors bring valuable perspectives and contributions to its activities. Importantly, our Governors hold the Non-Executive Directors for C&I to account for the performance of the Board on behalf of C&I and represent the interests of constituent members and the public.
- Governors are largely elected by the membership, from amongst the membership.
- Governors provide a voice for members and local people.
- Governors help ensure that the Board is accountable to local people.
- Governors have a statutory role. This includes the appointment or removal of the Trust Chair and Non-Executive Directors and deciding on their pay and terms of appointment. They agree the appointment of the Chief Executive and appoint the Trust’s external auditors. The Governors also have a role in approving the Trust’s Constitution.
Our Governors are not responsible for the day to day running or management of the Trust.
