Beseen platform

North London NHS Foundation Trust is offering patients referred to the Adult Community Single Point of Access the opportunity to use the Beseen platform as part of their assessment.

The Community Single Point of Access currently triages routine (non-urgent) referrals for mental health support and treatment for adults in Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey, and will be available in Camden and Islington later in 2025.

What is the Beseen platform?

The Beseen platform is an online questionnaire that allows you to share, in your own words, why you are seeking help.

The platform is an easy and secure way to share your experiences and what you hope to get from your treatment. The information you provide helps our triage and assessment teams better understand your needs.

Using the Beseen questionnaire does not replace our usual referral or assessment process. Completing it is completely optional – if you choose not to, you will still get the support you need.

Some patients said that completing it helped them prepare for their appointment with a healthcare professional.

How the Beseen platform works

When your GP sends us a referral, the Community Single Point of Access team will check if our services are suitable for you and whether using the beseen platform would be helpful for your assessment.

If it is, you will receive a secure text message link to access the questionnaire. Not everyone will receive a questionnaire, as this depends on your symptoms and the type of support you require.

You can complete the questionnaire on a mobile phone, or by copying the link into a browser on a laptop, desktop, or tablet. The questionnaire will guide you through:

  • questions about what you would like from treatment
  • multiple-choice questions about your experiences
  • questions about your current situation and sources of support
  • optional sections for specific experiences
  • space to describe things in your own words

For more information, please read our FAQs about how the beseen platform works.

Information Collected by the Beseen Platform

The questionnaire asks about things like:

  • Mood and depression
  • Different types of anxiety
  • Panic
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Trauma-related experiences (optional)
  • Obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours (optional)
  • Eating concerns (optional)
  • Alcohol use
  • Drug use
  • Impact on daily life
  • Social support and circumstances

Please note: The beseen platform is not suitable for people experiencing a mental health crisis. The platform is not monitored 24/7. If you need help now, please follow this link for support and crisis numbers. The beseen platform does not screen for neurodevelopmental conditions or mental health symptoms in individuals under 18 years old.

Completing the questionnaire

The questionnaire usually takes 40-60 minutes to complete, though this may vary. You can save your progress to return to it later if you need to. You will have seven working days to complete the questionnaire. If it’s not finished within this time, the link will expire and any information you’ve entered will not be sent to the Mental Health Team.

Before any sensitive sections, you’ll see content warnings explaining what’s coming next. Some sections are optional – you can choose whether to complete them, and you can discuss these areas later with your healthcare professional when you feel ready.

The beseen platform includes:

  • Clear explanations of what will be asked
  • Options to take breaks when needed
  • Automatic saving of your progress
  • Information on how to access urgent help if required
  • A combination of multiple-choice questions and free-text section

Please be open and honest in your responses – this helps our Mental Health Team understand your experiences and provide the most appropriate support. Once completed, your responses will be shared securely with the Mental Health Team who will be arranging your assessment.
