Shirley McNicholas, Women’s Lead and Chair of the AR-DSA Network (Awareness and Response to Domestic and Sexual Abuse), warmly invites you to a special conference to mark the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls.

This important annual event provides a space to reflect, learn, and strengthen our collective response to domestic and sexual abuse — both in the wider community and within our own services.

Creating safe cultures
Creating safe, compassionate, and accountable cultures is essential to preventing and responding to harm. The conference will focus on our internal work to recognise and respond to domestic and sexual abuse, and how we can better protect and support those affected.

Sessions will include:

  • Non-fatal strangulation awareness and response, led by our Domestic and Sexual Abuse Practitioners Maneek Sahota and Anna Young

  • The impact of leading on the presentation of sexual harm within institutions, presented by Dr Philippa Greenfield, exploring national and local work to raise awareness, prevent harm, and ensure robust and compassionate responses — whoever the victim

This event has been co-created with people with lived experience, who are integral members of the AR-DSA network and contribute each year to shaping this important day.

16 days of action
Following the conference, the 16 Days of Action campaign will take place across the Trust and beyond. Look out for further webinars, awareness sessions, and community activities.
If you would like support to host a local event or raise awareness in your area, please contact shirley.mcnicholas@nhs.net.
