Our MHCAS is moving location on Wednesday 17 April

The Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service (MHCAS) is a vital component of the Partnership’s mental health crisis pathway. The MHCAS model supports individuals experiencing urgent mental health crisis with an alternative to Emergency Department attendance.

In an initiative to strengthen our commitment to emergency mental health care, the Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service (MHCAS) North London Mental Health Partnership will move to a new, cutting-edge facility at the Highgate West Campus on Wednesday 17 April.

When MHCAS first moved from our St Pancras Hospital site in autumn 2022 (as part of the sale of land to Moorfields) the long-term plan was always for the service to have a permanent home on the Highgate Campus.

The new address is:

K block, Highgate West Mental Health Centre, Dartmouth Park Hill, London N19 5NX.

The referral process and telephone number will not change and encourage all professionals to call ahead if they are sending someone to the service.

Benefits of the move:

  • MHCAS to operate from a permanent bespoke building which supports timely emergency mental health assessments.

  • The new location offers the advantage of being closely located to the Whittington Emergency Department, facilitating smoother and more efficient referrals for individuals in crisis.

  • The move places MHCAS in close proximity to the Islington Crisis Resolution Team Crisis Single Point of Access, and the Islington Crisis Café, supporting collaboration and streamlined support for individuals requiring emergency mental health care.

  • Co-locating at The Highgate West site will provide MHCAS with additional professional staff on-site, enhancing our capability to respond effectively to mental health emergencies.

Thank you to all staff involved in this move. If you have any questions, please contact:
