Bethel Ihenacho, one of our nursing colleagues, is among the 22 winners of this year's Royal College of Nursing and Midwifery (RCN) London Rising Star Award.
Today, RCN London announced the winners of its prestigious Rising Star Award — part of the College's Black History Month celebrations. The award recognises Black, Asian and minoritised-ethnicity nurses who have provided innovative and/or exceptional care to Londoners.
The winners work across a range of different areas of nursing including in schools, end-of-life care and mental health services. Among the latter is our very own Bethel Ihenacho, who works at Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield — congratulations, Bethel, and a huge thank you for your incredible work!
On receiving the award, Bethel said:
"Words cannot describe how proud I am to receive this award. I have always informed my colleagues and friends how hard work pays off. Having self-belief every day is crucial. I will continue to work hard and encourage my friends and colleagues to do the same."
Congratulating the winners, RCN Regional Director for London, Lisa Elliott, said:
“A huge congratulations to all the Rising Star winners. It’s fantastic to see the depth of talent that exists in London’s nursing community, which works across different nursing settings all over the capital. Their innovation, compassionate leadership and commitment to delivering first-class patient care is a clear example of why nursing is the most trusted profession by the public.
“I am also delighted that the vital contribution of internationally educated nursing staff has been recognised. The skills, expertise and passion they bring is essential, and the capital’s health and care services could not function without them.”
