On Tuesday, 11 November, veterans and supporters of the Armed Forces from North London NHS Foundation Trust and Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust gathered at St Pancras Hospital for a remembrance service. The ceremony paid tribute to those who served and lost their lives in global conflicts, concluding with a two-minute silence at 11:00 am, marked by the sound of a bugle, commemorating the end of World War One.
Dr Sue Ferrier, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and co-lead of Op COURAGE, reaffirmed the Trust’s commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, ensuring equitable mental health care for veterans and their families. Reginald Pressley, a Veteran Peer Support Worker, reflected on the enduring bravery of the Armed Forces, stating: We must always remember, for our tomorrow, they gave their today.”
This year also marks the 80th anniversaries of VE Day, VJ Day, and the Battle of Britain.
The service followed a recent visit by King Charles III to Chatfield Health Care in South-West London, where he met with Dr Ferrier and veterans to learn about NHS veteran support services, including:
- Op Courage: Mental health support for veterans, including trauma care.
- Op Restore: Physical health services for injuries sustained during service.
North London NHS Foundation Trust, a Veterans Aware Trust, signed the Armed Forces Covenant in September 2025, reinforcing its pledge to support the Armed Forces community.
