Chesnuts Park came alive on Saturday 16 August as hundreds of Haringey residents gathered for North London Summer Connect, a free, family-friendly festival celebrating community spirit, mental health awareness, and wellbeing.
The day gave families the chance to enjoy games, crafts, hands-on workshops and even a lively tug of war! Younger children enjoyed the bouncy castle and face painting, while a local food stall kept everyone fed!
More than 15 local organisations joined the event, including GamCare, NCL Waiting Room, Mind in Haringey, Open Door, and National Energy Action. Their stalls offered advice, activities, and information about local support.
The Mayor of Haringey, Councillor Ahmed Mahbub, joined families on the day. The Mayor said the event showed how the community can come together and break down barriers to mental health support.
King Agyepong, Co-production Lead at the Trust, said:
“It was great to see families and young people in one space where they could see, hear, and feel the support available to them. Too often, services can feel distant or hard to find. This event showed that help is local, friendly, and part of the community.”
One visitor told us:
“It was such a welcoming space, and I learned about services I never knew existed.”
Summer Connect was hosted by our Children’s and Young People’s Services. It was supported by Haringey Council, Mind, and local partners.
We aim to build on the success of the day by working with our partners to raise awareness of support and strengthen local ties.
