"Your help has been invaluable to our medical system"

Ukranian organisation, The Path of Hope Charity Foundation, shared a thank you message with NLFT about the medical donations that staff at Chase Farm Hospital sent to Ukranian hospitals to support with their current medical crisis due to the ongoing war in the country.

In the message, the organisation expresses its gratitude for the donations and highlights the difference this invaluable support has made to them:

"Your help is not only a material contribution, but also a manifestation of humanity, solidarity and faith. Today, Ukrainians need attention, support and unity more than ever, and it is thanks to people like you, that we feel that we are not alone.

We express our deep gratitude for all the donations including modern interactive medical beds and bedside tables. These were transferred to the Central District Hospital in Sakhnovshchyna, to the surgical department, which was created in extremely difficult conditions two years ago. Your help has become invaluable to our medical system.

Today, these new beds help doctors fight for the most seriously ill patients."

At the end of last year, staff from Chase Farm Hospital donated decommissioned hospital beds and furniture to Driving Aid to Ukraine, a charity that delivers aid directly to Ukraine's conflict zones and refugee centres.

This initiative was also an opportunity for the Trust to promote sustainability making the most of our resources. This initiative enables free recycling of unwanted hospital furniture while aiding Ukrainian healthcare facilities.

We started our partnership with the charity last summer arranging multiple collections from older adult wards and since our hospital beds from Chase Farm Hospital have been donated to:

  • Rivne General Hospital, Rivne Oblast in North-West Ukraine to increase post-operative surgical high dependency capacity. This was coordinated in partnership with Stand for Ukraine Brighton.
  • Kropivnytskij Hospital, a maternity hospital in central Ukraine, for general ward use, coordinated in partnership with the Merseyside based housing and community empowerment charity SHAP.
  • The second batch of beds, has been received by Driving Aid to UK’s main partner the Palms Charity in Kyiv and we are waiting confirmation as to where they will be sent.

Driving Aid to Ukraine’s Michael Byrne said: “We are extremely grateful to the North London NHS Foundation Trust and Chase Farm Hospital for their very generous donations of hospital beds and furniture.”

Between February 2022 and June 2025, The World Health Organization's surveillance system for attacks on health care recorded 2,477 attacks on health care, including hospitals and other facilities, in Ukraine.

We would love to hear from you!
