How to access this service
Referrals are made directly via GPs or from other C&I services.
What to expect
When referred, you will receive a phone call from one of our team to arrange to meet with one of our consultants for an initial appointment. You can attend the appointment with a family member or a friend.
At the initial appointment we gain an understanding of memory related difficulties you have noticed. If needed, we might refer you for tests, like a scan or a memory task, to help us get a better understanding.
Based on these appointments and any tests results, we will discuss with you if the difficulties you are noticing are feedback to a medical diagnosis.
Tests will not necessarily result in a dementia diagnosis. In the event of a dementia diagnosis, we will discuss with you support available by our team, and where possible any appropriate treatment options such as medication, Cognitive Stimulation Therapy and START (an evidence-based psychological intervention for carers) and take a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. We also undertake signposting and referrals to relevant services.
For any person living in Camden and with a dementia diagnosis, we would continue to meet with you at least yearly, to help support you in any social, psychological, and medical needs relating to dementia. We also provide support to carers and families. Carers do not need to be officially registered, they can be a friend or family members that is active in providing support to the person living with dementia.
