Autism Advisory Team

We give staff personal advice and support to help them when caring for a person with autism. Our team talks through individual cases and offers expert guidance.

We work with autistic people to create and deliver autism training. This helps staff understand autism and provide better care. We also advise staff about:
- Screening and early support
- Care, Education and Treatment Reviews (CeTRs)
- Reasonable adjustments to make services more accessible
- Care planning
- Provide environmental assessments to understand patients needs in the community or inpatient seetings.
Eligible autistic people can also receive specialist assessments from occupational therapists and speech and language therapists. These assessments help us understand a person's needs but do not provide an autism diagnosis.

Who is this service for?

For staff seeking support in managing the care of autistic individuals or those with suspected autism with autistic needs.

Our exclusion criteria is service users:

under Learning Disability teams
under Forensic services
who are not Autistic
who don’t have a GP within the boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, Islington

What to expect

You can expert autistic assessments, support in creating reasonable adjustments including setting transformation, specialist assessments — Ocupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy (SALT), and bespoke training different from Oliver McGowan.

Referrals to this service are made via NLFT healthcare professionals via email or using the autism advisory referral form.
