Social Workers

At North London NHS Foundation Trust, Social Workers play a vital role in delivering safe, compassionate and person-centred mental health care.

As one of the largest mental health trusts in England, serving five vibrant and diverse London boroughs, we offer Social Workers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to individuals, families and communities every day.

Social work brings a unique and essential perspective to mental health services. By integrating social care expertise, legal knowledge, human rights principles and community partnerships, our practitioners support people to achieve recovery, independence and lasting wellbeing beyond hospital walls.

Our Social Workers

Our Social Workers are practitioners, leaders and advocates, working across Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington in a wide range of services, including:

  • community mental health teams
  • inpatient wards
  • older adults
  • crisis services
  • rehabilitation
  • forensic settings
  • specialist pathways.

Across these settings, they use evidence-informed practice to support people with their social, practical and emotional needs. They bring expertise in the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, safeguarding and Section 117 aftercare, supporting lawful, person-centred decision-making that considers the whole person.

Our social workers also play an important role in service development. They influence decision making, strengthen multi-agency partnerships and champion the rights of the people we serve.
