Staff and partners celebrate opening of Daleham Gardens Crisis House

Staff, service users, experts by experience and partners came together today to celebrate the official opening of Daleham Gardens Crisis House, a newly refurbished and expanded crisis house in Camden.

The launch marked an important milestone in the St Pancras Transformation Programme and provided an opportunity to recognise the many people who helped shape the service. Guests were welcomed by Jinjer Kandola, our Chief Executive and Lena Samuels our Chair and heard about the important role crisis houses play in providing a safe, therapeutic alternative to hospital admission for people experiencing a mental health crisis.

The event highlighted the central role that co-production played in the development of Daleham Gardens. Experts by experience worked alongside staff throughout the project, helping shape the environment, artwork and feel of the building to create a welcoming and recovery-focused space.

Daleham Gardens now provides 12 crisis beds in a modern, homely environment designed with direct input from people with lived experience. The refurbished service includes six additional ensuite bedrooms, improved accessibility features and dedicated spaces to support recovery and wellbeing.

Naseem Butt, Expert by Experience (pictured below left), said:

"What makes me proud is that people with lived experience weren't just asked for their opinion, they were listened to. You can see that everywhere you look in this building. I hope people who stay here feel safe and supported when they need it most."

A huge thank you to everyone involved in bringing Daleham Gardens to life. From staff and project teams to service users, carers, experts by experience, partners and contractors, this has been a truly collaborative effort.

The new crisis house is a testament to what can be achieved when people work together to design services around the needs of the communities we serve.
