We are a 24/7 mental health emergency department offering emergency mental health assessment to anyone presenting to us or directed to us from crisis services or local emergency departments.
We help people to resolve their mental health crisis in a supportive environment and have very strong links to a number of crisis services and voluntary sector services for ongoing support. We aim to provide a viable alternative to people needing to attend an acute emergency department when in mental health crisis.
We cannot manage those with need for immediate medical intervention such as medical illness or severe self-harm – these would need to attend an acute emergency department within your local hospital. Police and ambulance referrals will be screened for appropriateness of referral to make sure we can meet their needs appropriately.

Anyone over 18 and in emergency mental health crisis needed immediate assessment.
When you arrive, you will be welcomed by our team and supported by mental health professionals who will work with you to understand what is happening and how best to help.
You will receive a mental health assessment and, together, we will develop a plan to support you through your crisis and identify any ongoing care or treatment you may need.
We understand that attending a new service can feel daunting, especially during a mental health crisis.
To help you understand what to expect, we've created a 360° virtual tour of the service so you can explore the environment before attending: Chase Farm Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service (MHCAS) in 3D
If you need urgent mental health support or advice, the best first step is to:
Call NHS 111 and select the mental health option
You can also attend the service directly if you need urgent mental health support.
